

The physicians in these programs are trained and supervised by University of Florida faculty physicians at Ascension Sacred Heart.

She has five children and eight grandchildren and enjoys reading historical fiction, puzzles, and is very competitive at board games!ĭr. In affiliation with the University of Florida College of Medicine, Ascension Sacred Heart provides residency programs that train physicians in three specialties: internal medicine, obstetrics/gynecology and pediatrics.

Wilkinson was thrilled to be offered a faculty position upon graduation and she and her husband decided to make Pensacola home. She completed her residency in Pensacola, serving as Chief Resident during her third year of training. When looking for a program to do her Pediatric Residency training, she was excited to learn that Pensacola, Florida, well known to her from years of family summer vacations at the beach, had a pediatric program at Sacred Heart Children’s Hospital, now known as The Studer Family Children’s Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart. She then obtained her medical degree from the University of Mississippi in Jackson, MS. The pediatric residency program at Ascension Sacred Heart was founded in 1965 based on a deep commitment to serve all children, with special attention to the poor and vulnerable. Their caring and generous spirits make a difference in many lives every. Volunteers are an essential part of our care team. She graduated with Highest Honors with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, MS. At the core of Ascension sites of care’s long tradition of caring for those in our community, is a group of volunteers whose willing hearts and helping hands have served generations of families during their time of need. Wilkinson was born and raised in the small Mississippi Gulf Coast town of Bay St. Diane Wilkinson is our new Residency Program Director this year, but she is not new to our program.ĭr.
